Bill Shannon, Ph.D: Founder and President
William Shannon, PhD, is a tenured Associate Professor of Biostatistics in Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine since 1995, and Founder and President of BioRankings LLC, a biostatistical firm providing due diligence analysis of biotech preclinical and clinical trials, since January 2007. Dr. Shannon has over 20 years of applied biostatistical expertise in biomedical, pharmaceutical, and biotech research with about 100 peer-reviewed publications in areas such as oncology, genetics, cardiology, pulmonology infectious disease, sleep medicine, health care delivery, statistics, and other areas.
Bill is currently working on his EMBA through the Washington University in St. Louis Olin School of Business.

Alexandra McWilliams is completing her degree in business while working at BioRankings. She brings huge experience in communications including community organizing, public relations, and associations with press. Her prior work has included advanced training in organizational theory and working with a leading member of congress helping to develop comprehensive education financing reform. Elena Deych, Research Statistician
Elena Deych, Research Statistician, has an M.S. in biostatistics from Columbia University. She has 10 years of statistical experience working in academia, pharmaceutical industry and a quality improvement peer review organization. Elena is an expert in data analysis, statistical programming, study design, database design and maintenance, writing and reviewing manuscripts, and literature review. She has experience with epidemiological studies, clinical trials, laboratory data, pharmacogenetics, having shown her expertise through co-authoring 15 peer-review publications

Leslie McIntosh, Ph.D: Director of Clinical Informatics
Leslie McIntosh, PhD, MPH is a faculty member at Washington University School of Medicine in the Center for Biomedical Informatics. She has over fifteen years working with data, with the past three years working in the Center for Biomedical Informatics facilitating the development of software to collect, manage, and export data for clinical study and patient data. Over the past two years she has submerged herself into the semantic web through the implementation and evaluation of VIVO, a research and discovery networking tool. Dr. McIntosh has a background in biostatistics and epidemiology, relational and semantic data acquisition, transformation, and management, with computing and statistical programming in SAS, R, and Python.

Berkley Shands, Software Engineer, has his bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from University of Illinois: Urbana-Champaign. He has extensive experience developing and maintaining software in both high and low level programming languages, including Java, C++, Python, and many others. Berkley brings creative and innovative software solutions to BioRankings. His prior work involves developing packages for the statistical programming language R, distributed file sharing programs, web-based data mining programs, and android/iPhone applications. With his specialized training and innovative mindset, Berkley helps BioRankings develop and maintain the most effective software and web based tools to fit our client’s needs.
