BioRankings' team of statisticians and software engineers are passionate about making an impact on translational research
Our Story
BioRankings was founded in 2014 as a spin-out from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. At the University, Bill Shannon, PhD worked with medical researchers in tackling data analysis problems that required both extensive expertise and a creative touch. His interest in doing the same level of work outside of the University drove him and his business partner, Ally McClure, to found BioRankings. As a company BioRankings still publishes in academic journals.
Innovation and collaboration are the traits that set us apart. BioRankings has enjoyed an extensive client list in medicine, animal science, plant science, and a variety of other industries. We strive to create a work culture that promotes creativity, skill development, and leadership.

Bill Shannon, PhD, MBA - Cofounder
Bill has over 25 years of experience developing analytical methodology for complex and big data in biomedical R&D. In his capacity as a Professor of Biostatistics in Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Bill focused on statistical methods grants in emerging areas of medicine, and worked with researchers when there are no known statistical methods for analyzing their study data. Bill acts as a partner with clients and works to communicate results and their implications to both business executives and scientific researchers. Dr. Shannon earned his PhD in Biostatistics at the University of Pittsburgh in 1995, and completed his MBA at Washington University in St. Louis Olin School of Business in 2012.
Ally McClure - Cofounder
Ally brings critical expertise in company operations, project management, strategy, and marketing to BioRankings. She uses her expertise to strengthen the company internally and also strives to make BioRankings a leader in the analytics space across focus areas. She is committed to creating an innovative and diverse work environment where staff has the tools needed to grow in their careers. Ally contributes her expertise in writing and managing grant and contract funding sources to the growth and sustainability of BioRankings. She has a BS in Business Administration from University of Missouri, St. Louis.
